Education to Action

by | May 1, 2013

Led by the UAB School of Public Health, Education to Action is an after-school program at Hudson Elementary in Collegeville where kids receive hands-on learning experiences covering a variety of topics related to their environment. GASP was honored to participate by hosting two sessions teaching the kids about air quality and lung function. The children are well aware of the pollution inundating their community, and the large plumes of smoke/pollution are clearly visible from their playground. We hung homemade “air monitors” around school property and made “lungs” out of soda bottles and balloons. It was a rich learning experience for both the students and for GASP!
