GASP Names New Communications Specialist

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — GASP, a nonprofit organization that advocates for clean air in Alabama, has announced that it has hired Michael Hansen to head up communications. He will be responsible for overseeing the agency’s website, social media, and public relations, as well as coordinating outreach events.

Hansen has a bachelor’s degree in marketing from The University of Memphis and is scheduled to receive a master’s degree in public relations from The University of Alabama in August. A transplant from Memphis, Tenn., he has nearly a decade of experience in PR, business management and strategic marketing communications. He is also the co-founder of Mud Pie Creative Lab, a freelance-style web design, branding, and marketing communications firm.

Hansen most recently served as director of public relations at The Modern Brand Company where he managed media relations and social media efforts for a number of clients across the Southeast, including the award-winning “SmokeFree Birmingham” campaign. Previously Michael served as public relations and marketing coordinator at Birmingham Botanical Gardens for a number of years
