The City of Birmingham Department of Planning, Engineering & Permits is in collaboration with the Birmingham City Council to create new definitions and guidelines for future proposed data centers in Birmingham. A six-month temporary suspension on all data center proposals was enacted by the City Council in March 2026. Once the new ordinance is adopted, the suspension will end. NOW is the time to speak up!
